Former Aussie Test captain Michael Clarke says he is worried about some of the details that have emerged about Glenn Maxwell’s Adelaide incident.

The star allrounder was reportedly sent to hospital in an ambulance after a night out in Adelaide on Friday.

Maxwell had made an appearance at a popular golf event in Adelaide’s CBD before heading to a pub where former Aussie bowler Brett Lee and his band Six and Out were performing.

7NEWS first reported the 35-year-old was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital from the venue in an ambulance.

Reports say he did not spend the night at the facility.

New details have since emerged with the Sydney Morning Herald reporting witnesses believe Maxwell was suffering from dehydration.

News Corp first reported “those close to Maxwell” said the cricketer had a “few beers in the sun” and that, along with the effects of dehydration, “caught up with him”.

The Australian cricketer is believed to have passed out as a result, with an ambulance then called.

Maxwell has been involved in other incidents in recent times that have resulted in injuries.

The explosive batsman suffered a concussion after falling off a golf cart during last year’s victorious World Cup campaign in India.

He also suffered a badly broken leg at a friend’s 50th birthday party in November, 2022.

It has now emerged there are concerns about Maxwell’s relationship with alcohol.

Clarke on Tuesday said some of the details around Maxwell’s latest incident are worrying.

“To have to be put into an ambulance. That makes me nervous,” he said.

“With these sort of things, with off-field stuff. I like to go, ‘Benefit of the doubt and innocent until proven guilty’.

“One thing I know, Cricket Australia will get to the bottom of it. These days there’s cameras, there’s people. So the truth will be told.

“The other thing we need to do is making sure he’s OK. He didn’t end up spending the night there (in hospital). I can’t think of a time where I’ve had to call an ambulance or an ambulance had to be called for me, no matter how drunk I was.

“So I’m worried is there more to this and I just hope he’s OK first and foremost.”

Maxwell, who was instrumental in Australia’s World Cup triumph late last year, is training with the Australian squad ahead of the T20 series against the West Indies in February.

Cricket Australia (CA) is aware of the incident and is launching an investigation.

“Cricket Australia is aware of an incident involving Glenn Maxwell in Adelaide at the weekend and is seeking further information,” CA said in a statement.

“It is not related to him being replaced in the ODI squad, a decision that was made following the BBL and based on his individual management plan.

“Maxwell is expected to return for the T20 series. No further comment will be made at this time.”

Australian and West Indies players were understood to have been in attendance on the evening in question but Maxwell came separately and didn’t arrive or leave in the same group.
