AN ALLEGED drug driver charged over the death of an 18-year-old man at Lower Turners Marsh on Christmas Day in 2018 has pleaded guilty to further charges of drug and unlicensed driving.
Elizabeth Anne Quill has pleaded not guilty to causing the death of Ravenswood man Jayden John Pearce by negligent driving.
The matter will go to hearing at the Launceston Magistrates Court on November 24 when a witness is expected to give evidence from Adelaide via video link.
It has been alleged that Ms Quill was driving high on ice, failed to keep left of the dividing line, failed to keep a proper look out and failed to take all reasonable precautions to avoid a collision before crashing into the green Kia Rio Mr Pearce was a passenger in.
Ms Quill on Tuesday pleaded guilty to driving with methamphetamine in her oral fluid on the East Tamar Hwy on March this year and driving while her license was suspended at Ravenswood in July.
She pleaded not guilty to charges including using an unregistered motor vehicle, driving without premium cover, driving with an elicit drug in her oral fluid and using a controlled drug on January 21 – less than one month after the fatal crash she was accused of causing.
She also pleaded not guilty to one count of driving with methamphetamine in her oral fluid in November last year.
All matters have been set down for facts and sentence, mention and hearing on November 24.
