From Eurovision to Hobart’s very own Festival of Voices, Dami Im’s powerful voice has travelled far and touched many.

Beginning her career as a pianist, the singer-songwriter shot to fame in 2013 after winning the fifth season of The X Factor, and later topped the ARIA music charts with her eponymous album.

A stellar turn representing Australia at Eurovision, four albums and countless tours later, she will return to Hobart as part of the Night at the Point concert series.

Taking place in November, the new series will bring together some of the country’s most celebrated musical acts including Jon Stevens, PNAU and Delta Goodrem over three nights of open-air concerts at the Wrest Point lawns.

With her last Hobart concerts cancelled due to Covid, Ms Im told the Mercury she was “so excited” to return to the island state.

“It’s just so beautiful, so peaceful here … the green hills, little bakeries and pie shops,” she said.

“I have such good memories exploring different parts of the state.”

While still finalising the set list, Ms Im said punters can expect to hear her new jazz-inspired single “Bubble” – a “tongue in cheek” song about “switching off and being in the moment”.

She said it was something made easier at an outdoor concert like the one scheduled.

“People tend to be more chilled outside, whereas inside a theatre it’s a bit more formal,” she said.

“There’s just that lovely quintessentially Aussie vibe where everyone’s just there for a good time.

“It makes my job easier … with everybody giving back the energy the audience gives me.”

Ms Im will appear as Ms Goodrem’s special guest on the third night of the concert series.

Performing in Hobart for the first time after 20 years, the multi-platinum selling artist said in a statement she could not wait to share a night of “music and memories”.

“Performing at Night at the Point, surrounded by the energy of this incredible city and its people, is really special,” she said.

“The Tassie locals have always been so warm and welcoming.”

The outdoor concert series takes after similar ones in Sydney and Brisbane, with organiser Cameron Coghlan, from events agency Second Sunday, saying a Hobart-based series was an opportunity too good to resist.

“It is just such a beautiful location down there on Wrest Point lawns,” he said.

“To have household names of Australian music there was too good and opportunity not to do it.”

Mr Coghlan said the line-up “spoke to a number of generations”.

“We want a really inclusive, fun vibe down there,” he said.

Night at the Point takes place November 7-9 at Wrest Point, Sandy Bay, with general public tickets on sale from 9am, August 1.
