A WOMAN accused of causing the death of a Ravenswood teenager while driving high on ice on Christmas Day in 2018 has been charged with new drug driving offences.

Elizabeth Anne Quill, 36, appeared in Launceston Magistrates Court on Tuesday after being arrested in May for failing to attend her previous hearing date.

Ms Quill pleaded not guilty to causing the death of 18-year-old Jayden John Pearce by negligent driving in November 2019.

Magistrate Ken Stanton set the matter down for hearing over two days on November 24 and 25 this year.

Police have alleged Ms Quill was driving negligently on Pipers River Rd at Lower Turners Marsh on December 25, 2018 by failing to keep left of the dividing line, failing to keep a proper look out and failing to take all reasonable precautions to avoid a collision.

Ms Quill has also pleaded not guilty to having ice in her blood at the time of the crash.

Police reported at the time of the crash that Ms Quill’s green 1994 Ford Laser collided with a green 2001 Kia Rio carrying two young men about 3.50pm.

All occupants were taken to the Launceston General Hospital.

Pearce – a passenger in the Kia – was flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital with head and neck injuries where he died four days later.

Ms Quill and the Kia driver sustained only minor injuries.

Magistrate Stanton directed Ms Quill to return to court on August 25 to plead on several new drug driving charges since the fatal 2018 crash.
