WHEN IS IT GOING TO BLOODY RAIN?
Pictures released today by Tasmania Fire Service show the impact of the bushfire that burned close to the popular tourism attraction last night.
However, Tahune Adventures Tasmania owner Ken Stronach said the Airwalk structure, visitor centre and other buildings remained intact.
The only loss was the wooden entry to the Airwalk.
“The fire came down the hill behind the Airwalk on the other side of the Huon River from the visitor centre,” Mr Stronach said.
“The buildings are all OK
“I’ve now accepted the fact that we are going to be closed for a prolonged period of time.”
Mr Stronach said he was hopeful tomorrow would be the last danger day for the fire in the area, and was remaining positive about the future.
“We have an opportunity to recreate — for want of a better word — the attraction and give it a rebirth … we can be bigger and better than ever,” he said.
