Public ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging station to open at Campbell Town

Tasmania’s first public ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging station will open by the end of this year.

TASMANIA’S first public ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging station will open in Campbell Town by the end of this year.

Australian open charging network Chargefox, in which RACT is an investor via the Australian Motoring Service, will install the station.

Chargefox is applying for State Government funding to roll out more chargers throughout the state.

The Campbell Town station will be capable of delivering 400km of range in 15 minutes or 200km in eight minutes.

RACT executive general manager, membership and community, Stacey Pennicott said the installation of a public ultra-rapid charging station was an important development for Tasmanian and visiting drivers. The RACT has called for investment in electric vehicle charging stations around the state in its 2019-20 State Budget submission.
