A BAND of wet weather has crossed Southern Tasmania, bringing with it welcome rainfall to Hobart and surrounding areas.
In Hobart 9.4mm of rain fell between 9.30pm and 10.30pm.
Heavier falls were recorded in the Derwent Valley with 18mm recorded at Bushy Park.
There is little rainfall predicted for the rest of the week, with only a chance of showers on Sunday and Monday.
Tasmania has experienced its driest start to the year since 2006 after a mild March for most of the state.
April was also a dry month for the eastern half of Tasmania.
