A “PISSED off” mainlader has taken to social media to vent about “maniac” Tasmanian drivers after seven accidents in 18 months.
But Tasmanians were quick to point out that so many accidents in a short period of time might not be ‘bad luck’ or the Tasmanian drivers’ faults.
Redditor getthisoffmychest01 posted in the Tasmania subreddit saying before he moved to the island, he lived in Sydney – and only ever had one accident.
“Moved to this state from NSW a year and a half ago. Bought myself a cheap small car in state around the same time,” he wrote.
“In that short period of time, people have bumped into me (sic) 7 times! (sic) 6 in the parking lot and 1 while driving.
“I’ve witnessed 3 of those, 2 ran away (Utes), and 1 L driver (dad paid it off) and 4 happened in parking lot. They’re not write off materials, but they did pretty good dents and scrapes on my car. I’m super pissed off.
“I had lived in Sydney for 5 years, and had only 1 sod rear ended my car while on traffic light. What the hell Tassie?”
Tasmanians were savage in their response, saying the accidents may “be a case of operator fault” and speculating the Redditor’s “substandard stationary parked car position” may endanger lives – hence the accidents.
While others were sympathetic – saying that driving behaviours seem to get worse and worse as the years go on.
