With travel restrictions lifting across Tasmania, the long weekend is a perfect time to visit one or more of the state’s best wineries.
Here’s a bumper list of wineries open across the long weekend, including for tasting and lunch.

Home Hill Wines
38 Nairn Rd, Ranelagh | (03) 6264 1200
The winery’s cellar door is reopening on Saturday, with the owners saying they “cannot wait” to see customers again.
They’ll be open:
- Saturday 11am-4pm
- Sunday 11am-4pm
- Monday 11am-4pm
Come in over the weekend and purchase their 2019 White pinot noir special — buy one, get one free $25 per bottle.
Unfortunately the restaurant will not reopen until Saturday, August 1.
Moores Hill Estate
3343 W Tamar Hwy, Sidmouth | (03) 6394 7649
While there’ll be no wine tasting due to keeping everyone safe, Moores Hill Estate will reopen their cellar door this weekend for your wine and cheese fix.
You’ll be able to purchase wine by the glass or bottle, with a maximum group size of four people.
A grazing platter of cheeses, meats and condiments will be available.
Their inside capacity is 12 people, while there’s more seats outside — but they urge customers they’ll have to rug up.
Moores Hill will be open weekends and public holidays for now, 12 noon to 5pm.
Bangor Vineyard Shed
20 Blackman Bay Road, Dunalley | (03) 6253 5558
As part of Bangor’s ‘World Tour’ they’ve been undergoing throughout the lockdown, they’re bringing Italy to Tasmania this long weekend with a special menu.
They’re open right throughout the weekend, serving house made gnocchi, as well as the rest of their menu and wine available dine in or takeaway.
Bookings recommended.
Derwent Estate Vineyard
329 Lyell Highway, Granton | (03) 6263 5802
The vineyard will be open to guests throughout the long weekend including the Monday Queen’s Birthday public holiday.
They’ll have three opening times available — 11am to 12.30pm; 12.45pm to 2.15pm and 2.30pm to 4pm.

Josef Chromy Wines
Relbia Road, Launceston | (03) 6335 8700
The restaurant will be open Saturday and Sunday, with bookings essential due to the limited number of guests.
On the public holiday Monday, casual dining and seated wine flights will be available in the restaurant — again, bookings are essential.
Takeaway wine sales will be available from the cellar door across the long weekend, but no wine tasting.
Clover Hill Wines
60 Clover Hill Road, Lebrina | (03) 6395 6114
Clover Hill Wines has kept extremely busy throughout the COVID-19 lockdown, hosting weekly ‘virtual cellar door’ events and tutorials on wine and food pairings online.
This weekend, they’re opening bookings for cellar door experiences in person.
Bookings are required for all visitors, available between 11am to 5pm each Friday to Sunday throughout winter. There are two packages to choose from with your Cellar Door booking:
Cheese package: $30 per person includes a cheese platter and a seated tasting of six Clover Hill sparkling wines
Crudo package: $40 per person includes a cheese and antipasto platter to share, a seated tasting of six Clover Hill sparkling wines, plus one glass of Clover Hill Vintage Brut or Vintage Riché.

Velo Wines

Velo Wines’ cellar door is open for wine purchases only, no tastings, during COVID-19.
Open 11am to 4pm Saturday and 11am to 3pm Sunday.
Swinging Gate Vineyard

The Sidmouth winery will be open over the long weekend from 10am to 10pm for bottle and glass sales.
Guests can BYO platters, with bookings preferred.
“We have space inside for 14 people and 16 people outside. We will have fires to keep you warm but feel free to bring a rug,” they posted online.
Riversdale Estate

Riversdale Estate will be open over the long weekend for pizza, wine, food towers, a view and open space.
The ‘High Tea Orangery’ will also be open over the long weekend, costing $49 per person.

Milton Vineyard will open over the long weekend for cellar door sales, seated wine tasting, glass and bottle sales.
Unfortunately their restaurant remains closed for now.
Boomer Creek Vineyard

One of the East Coast’s newest wineries will be open over the long weekend.
The cellar door will be open to the public this Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 11am to 4pm for seated tastings of groups no larger than four people.
There will also be a range of platters available with local produce.

While there’s no news yet on when the cellar door will reopen, Stoney Rise continues to offer ‘drive through sales’ from 3 to 5pm every Friday afternoon. So while you can’t visit this weekend, pop it in the diary for next Friday.
Frogmore Creek Winery

While Frogmore Creek has offered ready-to-heat meals and takeaways through the COVID-19 lockdown, the restaurant will soon open for lunch and wine — opening on June 12.
Pooley Wines

Their cellar door in Richmond is open between 12pm and 5pm weekdays for bottle sales, drive thru and pick-up sales only.
Pop in for a visit and take something away with you to have with your dinner.
Puddleduck Vineyard

The popular, family-friendly vineyard is reopening on Thursday, June 11.
