Tasmania’s newest breakfast radio duo say their show will focus on the issue that matter most to Hobart, but they’ll still be able to share a laugh on air.

On Tuesday, Esther ‘Woody’ Nichols and Andy ‘Tubes‘ Taylor will begin their reign as hosts of Triple M Breakfast after the shock resignation of Brian ‘Spoonman’ Carlton.

“It’s a dream job,” Mr Taylor said.

“I’m keen to wake up with Hobart and start their day right and start their day happy.”

Ms Nichols said the format of the show would include a mix of serious and light hearted content.

“It’s going to be a show created by Hobart,” Ms Nichols said.

“What I mean by that is the topics they want to talk about, the things they want solutions for.”

She said that didn’t mean things would always be serious.

“Of course we’re going to have fun because your humour doesn’t stop at 30,” Ms Nichols said.

“Some of the funniest moments I’ve had have been while I’m forty something.

“We’ll have a laugh but we’ll also tackle those huge issues everyone is facing right now with the housing crisis and rental issues, petrol prices.”

Ms Nichols is a seasoned host at Triple M, dominating their airwaves between 2013 and 2017 on Hit100.9’s Paul and Woody Show.

She’s also previously hosted a music show on SeaFm and produced Charles Wooley across Australia.

“It’s funny, I used to grow up listening to Kim and Dave, they’re both good friends of mine. To be in this position is a real privilege,” Ms Nichols said.

Mr Taylor considered himself to be “green” in comparison.

“For me it’s been mainly local sports coverage, I’ve been on the ABC in the morning and mainly sports broadcasting so commentary of local community sport,” Mr Taylor said.

“Tassie Tigers, I’ve done them and the Hobart Hurricanes and bits and pieces.”

Both hosts are Tasmanian locals.

“I’m all about our Hobart community, that extends right out to our satellites right down the south, to the east, to the west, wherever we reach,” Mr Taylor said.

“I’m a massive Tassie boy, I love Tasmania, and I want to focus on our little community here in Hobart.”

Ms Nichols said it would be interested to work with another Tasmanian.

“I’m a local girl but I’ve never worked with a local co-host,” she said.

“To be able to play in that field and have someone as passionate as I am about this community I think it’s going to be awesome.”
