Falls Festival in Lorne cancelled due to unsafe conditions

TASMANIA’S beloved new year’s music festival at Marion Bay has been called off for 2020, with the organisers blaming uncertainty caused by coronavirus.

Falls Festival has been running at the Marchweil property at Marion Bay for 17 years.

In a statement, organisers Secret Sounds said the Tasmanian event would not go ahead this year.

“After much consideration, we have made the difficult decision to not operate Falls Festival Marion Bay this year,” the statement said.

“During these unprecedented times, and like most industries, we must adjust our business operations to allow us the best opportunity for long term viability.

“To be clear this is not a goodbye, more a ‘see you soon’ to Tasmania.

“Confirming we are planning to operate Falls Festival Dec 2020 / Jan 2021 in NSW, VIC and WA and remain hopeful that we will be in a position to come back to Marion Bay in the future.

“Falls Festival Marion Bay has operated in Tasmania since 2003 and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our team, local community and all of our Falls friends in Tassie for their support over.”
