ARBORISTS are assessing the forest around the Tahune AirWalk for unsafe, fire-damaged trees, pledging to maintain the integrity of the area “where possible”.
Sustainable Timber Tasmania land property manager Sarah Vautin said assessment work had started this week to ascertain the extent of damage from recent bushfires.
“Their work involves identifying how we can potentially minimise the impact to the damaged trees and recognising where we can treat the tree it instead of removing it,” Ms Vautin said.
“Where possible, we want to maintain the integrity of the forest.
“The next step is to get our engineers to make a full assessment of the site infrastructure.”
Sustainable Timber Tasmania and Tahune Adventures Tasmania said they were working together to get the vital Geeveston tourism site operational “as soon as possible”.
