AN authority that will allow the Mt Wellington Cableway Company to drill sites in Wellington Park is set to be signed and publicly released today.
State Growth Minister Peter Gutwein announced his plans for the Wellington Park authority on Thursday but declined to release the document.
The permit will allow the company to undertake the fauna and flora studies necessary for it to complete its development application to the Hobart City Council.

It will also give the company permission to drill up to 32 sites around kunayi/Mt Wellington as part of geotechnical testing.
Mr Gutwein on Thursday emphasised the government’s strong support for the project — and said the majority of Tasmanians were on the same page.
“This authority, as I’ve said, provides for the company to do the work that’s required to inform the [development application], and I would encourage people to allow that process to take its course and should they want to have a say that they engage through the planning process that will be run by the Hobart City Council,” Mr Gutwein said.
The council and the Wellington Park Trust were issued with an unsigned authority on Thursday.

Cable car opponents have trained up in preparation for the upcoming geotechnical surveys.
Greens leader Cassy O’Connor on Thursday said she supported the protest action.
“Everything about this project and the way it’s been handled by the Liberal stinks,” she said.
“We are going to see people protest on that mountain to defend it. We are going to see members of the public go into a public park and defend it from private interests.”
State Growth Minister Peter Gutwein announced his plans for the Wellington Park authority on Thursday.
