Adelaide restaurateur and MasterChef star Laura Sharrad has unleashed on social media after her seven-month-old baby was mocked for laughing and playing with a toy at a restaurant.

The culinary queen, who is behind top local eateries Fugazzi Bar & Dining Room and Nido alongside husband Max, took to Instagram to express her disgust at the solo diner who complained about her daughter, Florence.

“At brekky this morning, a solo diner started huffing and repeating “oh no really?!” and continued to mumble under their breath about Florence loudly as Florence was giggling and playing with her toys,” she wrote in an Instagram story.

“Also noting the man behind me giggling at Florence and laughing with her. Not crying, giggling.”

Ms Sharrad did not reveal where the incident occurred but said her husband Max told the grumpy diner “I’m sorry, she’s not crying, and we’re not trying to make her upset you – she’s a baby”.

“They continued and then marched out of breakfast and made a complaint to the waiter saying our child was screaming and grunting at the table and some bullsh*t about it being unacceptable in the venue we are in,” she continued.

“This was a full-grown adult who was grunting at the waitress trying to impersonate Florence, as the few tables inside at breakfast stared at this person, embarrassed for what a joke of a human they are.”

The “mortified” waitress then rushed over to apologise for the customer’s rude behaviour which left Ms Sharrad feeling sick.

“Couldn’t finish my breakfast as I felt sick this happened, also annoyed I couldn’t say anything fast enough and clearly this person is a baby shamer and needs to some form of help,” she said.

“But also, if Florence was crying, I would have left, as I do, or settle her.

“I felt so ashamed and disgusted at the same time that this person was so disgusted by Florence and her having a jolly old time playing with her giraffe at 7am so we could eat breakfast.

“Everyone was (a) baby once, and I don’t want to be rude, but don’t come at my daughter … I’m sure that person was a f***ing miserable one to be around.”

Ms Sharrad ended her post thanking the “good humans” who giggled and laughed with her daughter.

In April, the Sharrads welcomed their first child Florence Rosa, whose name is a nod to Ms Sharrad’s Tuscan heritage and nonna, Rosa.

“She’s honestly so perfect and such an angel,” she said.

“We were very convinced we were having a boy, and the utter delight of her being a girl made keeping the gender a surprise the best news of them all. She’s simply perfect.”
