56-year-old woman dies after city hit-and-run at fast food restaurant

An Ascot Park woman has died after being hit by a car in the car park of a city fast food restaurant early last month. The driver fled the scene.

A woman has died after being hit by a car last month.

Police said about 6.15am on March 4, a woman was hit in a fast food restaurant car park on the corner of West Tce and Grote St.

The driver of the car fled the scene, while the 56-year-old Ascot Park woman was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital before she died from her injuries on March 30.

The woman’s death is the 39th life lost on SA roads this year, compared with 17 this time last year.

Meanwhile, police are investigating an armed robbery at a Blackwood hotel on Saturday morning.

About 2.30am, police were called to a licensed venue on Main Rd after reports two masked men had smashed their way in with an axe.

It is alleged the men threatened staff before stealing cash and fleeing in a white Mercedes.

Just after 3am, emergency services were called to Bombay St at Oaklands Park where they found the Mercedes destroyed in a fire.

The car was allegedly stolen from a Highbury address on March 27.
