Former Hobart man extradited from Queensland on drug charges expected to face trial later this year

A former Hobart man who was extradited from Queensland last year on drug charges is expected to face trial later this year.

A FORMER Hobart man who was extradited from Queensland last year on drug charges is expected to face trial later this year.

Mitchell John Campbell, 31, of Noosaville, appeared in the Supreme Court in Hobart today via video link from prison.

Mr Campbell is accused of trafficking cocaine and MDMA in Hobart between March 14 and May 9 last year.

He has previously pleaded not guilty to drug trafficking and related charges.

Defence lawyer Kim Baulmeler said Mr Campbell had received the indictment and the lawyer who usually acts for him, Greg Richardson, would take instructions from Mr Campbell about how the case would proceed.

Justice Michael Brett adjourned the case until May 2. It is expected Mr Campbell’s trial will be held towards the end of the year.

Mr Campbell was extradited from Queensland last June.
