Marian man taken to Mackay hospital after snake bite

A North Qld man was bitten by a snake on Saturday morning. It comes after a spate of strikes across the state – one of which left a teen dead while another man was in a critical condition.

A man in his 20s has been taken to Mackay hospital after being bitten by a snake at Marian on Saturday morning.

Paramedics were called to the property about 5.12am and the man was in a stable condition.

It follows a string of snakebites across the state.

At Toowoomba, Stuart Hickson was left in a critical condition on Tuesday after he was bitten by what he initially thought to be a common tree snake but was in fact a deadly eastern brown.

Multiple snakebites have also been reported this season in the Central Queensland region where teenager recently Beau Horan died from an eastern brown snake strike.
