A 54-year-old man has died following a freak traffic crash on the Bruce Highway at Glenwood on Monday, February 3.
Police said Tuesday the driver, a 54-year-old man, and his 56-year-old female passenger were in a blue Volkswagen T-Cross travelling behind a truck about 6.40am Monday when a rock was flung through the windscreen, hitting the driver and causing the car to crash near the highway’s intersection with Deveron Rd.
The man, who was reportedly struck in the head, was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The woman was uninjured in the crash, which blocked the highway for more than an hour.
Police revealed on Friday that the driver, an international tourist has since passed away from his injuries.
The Forensic Crash Unit continues to investigate the circumstances leading up to the incident and appeals to anyone who may have any relevant information or dashcam footage to come forward.
