A CHEESE factory worker who assaulted his partner just weeks after receiving a suspended sentence for injuring a man in a pub fight has been told to check his alcohol consumption.

The Supreme Court in Burnie heard Curtis Reeve, 30, of Burnie, had consumed 20 beers when he assaulted his partner in July.

Reeve, who on Monday pleaded guilty to dragging the same woman from a house and forcing her into a car, on Wednesday pleaded guilty to two charges of assault against her.

Justice Tamara Jago asked Reeves’ lawyer Stephen Wright if his client had made efforts to limit his drinking in light of his charges and time in custody for alcohol-fueled violence.

Justice Jago suggested it be one of the first things he addressed when being released from custody.

Curtis Reeve, 30, on Monday pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and another of trespass.

The court was told his partner needed to kick at the door of a stranger’s house to raise help during the July assault in Somerset which occurred when Reeves’ partner picked him up from a drinking session at a mate’s house.

The court was told he pulled her hair and hit her in the head leaving bruises to the eye and jaw.

Mr Wright told Justice Jago that Reeve and his partner wanted to continue their relationship which he described as tumultuous and dominated by jealousy at the time of the July assault.

In March, Justice Alan Blow sentenced Reeve to eight months jail on the condition he be of good behaviour for three years over the fight at the Somerset Hotel.

In sentencing, Justice Blow siad Reeve had punched his victim three times to the face, without provocation, using both fists.

The other man fell backwards. His back collided with a pool table with some force. He then fell to the floor, and remained there on his hands and knees. Mr Reeve circled around him, yelling at him, but then walked away and left the premises.

Tassie pub fighter faces court over woman’s terrifying kidnap ordeal

A VIOLENT man — with a history of fighting in pubs — has now pleaded guilty to dragging his ex-partner from a house and making her get into a car against her will.

Curtis Reeve, 30, of Burnie, on Monday pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and another of trespass.

His mate who joined him in the violent incident in Somerset in October last year, Ashley Lowry, also pleaded guilty to assault and trespass and will be sentenced on the same date.

The Burnie Magistrates Court was told Reeve and Lowry had been drinking when they learned Reeve’s ex girlfriend was at another man’s house.

The pair got a lift to the man’s house and stormed in, smashing a mirror and assaulting him, then dragged the woman by her jumper across the lawn and into a car.

The man whose house it was tried to stop the assault and ended up on the road unconscious after being punched in the head four times by Lowry.

The victim was driven to her parents’ house in Wynyard and let out of the vehicle.

Magistrate Katie Edwards was told Reeve accepted he was the main instigator in the violence and was motivated by jealousy.

The court was told Reeve had a history of violence including pub fights.

Both he and Lowry will be assessed for suitability for the Equips aggression program before being sentenced on December 8.

In March this year, Reeve was convicted of punching a man to the face in a hotel at Somerset.

His victim was seriously injured as a result of colliding with the pool table.

He suffered three fractured vertebrae, a fractured rib and swelling to the lips and the left side of his face.

Reeve has also been fined by magistrates for assaults committed in 2011, 2015 and 2019.
