A woman will remain behind bars for the next fortnight, charged with the attempted murder of a 74-year-old in New Norfolk.

Tamara Nicole Adams fronted Hobart Magistrates Court on Monday and was remanded on custody until 13 July, when she will reappear via videolink.

Ms Adams was arrested following an incident on Friday night where, police allege, the elderly man was shot and stabbed in a unit on Humphrey Street.

Police say the two were known to each other prior to the alleged attempted murder.

“A 74-year-old man from New Norfolk remains in the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition after sustaining gunshot and stab wounds,” the spokesperson said on Friday.

“Police reassure the community this was an isolated incident, between people known to each other, and there is no threat to the wider community.”
