From parenthood to travel and sibling rivalry, Tasmania’s newest breakfast radio duo have revealed exciting plans for their upcoming show.
On Monday, Dan Taylor and Christie Hayes will begin their reign as hosts of Hit 100.9’s breakfast show after fan favourites Jimmy and Nath announced their departure last week as their show moves to a national night timeslot.
“We’re just ecstatic,” Ms Hayes told the Mercury.
“We couldn’t be more excited.” said Mr Taylor.
With a love for storytelling the pair said they are keen to share a laugh on air while also tackling important issues and tapping into different audiences.
“We have so many causes that are important to us and we are going to make sure that we keep serving the listeners and hopefully bring some more things to the table,” said Ms Hayes.
“We’re parents ourselves so we want to bring a different angle to the show and connect with listeners that are also going through parenthood.”
A familiar face on screen, Ms Hayes grew up on Australian television and is best known for spending more than a decade playing Kirsty on Home And Away.
“My role led me to presenting and then I got into radio, it’s been such a natural thing for me ever since,”
After hosting breakfast on Illawarra’s i98FM for more than four years, the mum recently moved to Hobart to raise her family.
“Hobart is a place that has always been special to me with my family lineage, I am so excited for our listeners to wake up with us and deliver an engaging breakfast show, designed for them,” she said.
No stranger to Hit100.9, Mr Taylor started a successful radio career on the station back in the early 2000s before recently departing Launceston’s number one breakfast show Chilli FM after stints at Nova and Sea FM in Sydney and Melbourne over the years.
“I know Hobart like the back of my hand,” he said.
“To return to the place I began my radio journey is truly a dream come true.”
Brother to radio host Andy Taylor of Triple M Breakfast’s Woody and Tubes show, Mr Taylor admitted there was now some lighthearted competition between the two of them.
“There is a bit of sibling rivalry. I see a big poster of them on my way to work and I think, oh it’s Dan Taylor from Wish,” he joked.
“I love my brother, he’s so great, it will be healthy competition.”
The pair spilt the tea on some exciting segments they had in the works but were careful not to give too much away.
“We have a great idea for our female listeners that might be unlucky in love and we also have really big plans for travel, but we can’t talk about that much!”
The brand new Dan & Christie show will hit airwaves from 6-9am weekdays from Monday, May 23 while The Jimmy & Nath Show will resume from 9-11pm weeknights and 7-9am weekends from Monday, June 20 on Hobart’s Hit100.9 or via the free LiSTNR app.
