A police constable allegedly stalked a woman for months after two violent incidents on the Gold Coast.
Rowan Leslie Larkin was charged with multiple offences including five counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of stalking, the Bulletin can confirm.
It is alleged Larkin, 36, stalked the woman between July 4 and October 18 this year.
In a statement released on Friday the Queensland Police Service said the constable had been stood down from duty.
It is understood Larkin had resigned before moving to the Australian Capital Territory.
The alleged stalking came after two incidents in Pacific Pines – one on April 24 and one on June 30 – which resulted in five charges.
All alleged incidents relate to the same woman.
Magistrate Dzenita Balic granted Larkin bail when he appeared in court on Friday.
A note on the court file made by Magistrate Balic states the allegations were serious.
“To my mind, the absence from Queensland and the strict conditions cater to the unacceptability of risk,” she said.
Larkin was arrested in Canberra last week before being extradited to Southport to face the charges.
His bail conditions include that he report regularly to police and not contact the alleged victim.
The matter will return to court on December 16. Police are preparing a brief of evidence.
The 36-year-old male constable was arrested in Canberra and extradited to Queensland this week.
He has since been charged with five counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of unlawful stalking.
The man was granted conditional bail when he appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday.
He has also been suspended from duty with the Queensland Police Service.
The officer will next appear in court on December 16.
