One of two men allegedly behind a series of terrifying attempted carjackings on the Gold Coast is set to make a bid for freedom and be home for Christmas.

Gethyn Graham Thomas Lougher, 24, and Ethan James Davies, 19, each face several charges of attempted robbery and one of disguising their face with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Police allege the pair went on a feverish rampage across Southport, Main Beach and Surfers Paradise on April 6, trying to steal five cars within about half an hour.

It is alleged they targeted people at the Centro shopping strip on Ferry Rd and intersections along busy roads including the Gold Coast Highway and Marine Pde, trying to force drivers from their vehicles in each attempt.

They allegedly left each scene in a Toyota HiLux that had been reported stolen from Cleveland two days prior, and was found abandoned shortly after the reported incidents.

Police released bodyworn camera footage of Mr Davies’ arrest at Capalaba on April 16, showing the 19-year-old answering the door in his underwear before being taken into custody.

An officer could be heard saying, “If you don’t open the door, I’m going to kick the door in,” before the teen opened up.

“I’m here because you’re wanted mate, you’re under arrest.”

Mr Lougher was tracked down and charged a few days later.

The 24-year-old appeared via videolink from jail in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday, where he was expected to make a bail application.

However the court was told he had other charges before the courts at Cleveland, and that all matters should be transferred there to make an application for bail.

His case was adjourned to December 5.

Mr Davies' case is next listed for mention at Southport on November 13.
