THE Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is set to open its gates to visitors.
Tasmanians will be able to catch the last of the autumn foliage when the Gardens reopen to the public on Monday.
But they will be open only to those who live within a 30km radius of the Queens Domain.
The move aims to promote health and wellbeing activities and bring Tasmanians one step closer to their usual way of life.
Visitors are still expected to comply with social distancing rules and are discouraged from loitering or staying at the gardens after they finish exercising.
The toilets will be the only open facilities in the grounds, with the kiosk and cafe expected to re-open at a later date.
Heritage Minister Elise Archer said she was “delighted” the Gardens were reopening and was looking forward to the site’s $300,000 upgrades being completed.
“Those visiting the Botanical Gardens will notice quite a bit of work underway around the site,” she said.
“The funding has enabled the Gardens to undertake much-needed works on heritage buildings and iconic collections, as well as projects to support work health and safety compliance.”
