Owner Robert Pennicott said after 20 years of operation, this had been one of the toughest periods the business had faced.

“We know it has been a tough time for all Tasmanians, and we appreciate the support we have received,” he said.

“As with many businesses, cash flow completely stopped over the past few months, and most of our team of 110 staff were stood down temporarily as we looked to minimise expenses to ensure the business could survive.

“We do applaud all levels of government for backing the industry as we look to rebuilding a sustainable business.”

The cruises will initially open only to Tasmanians, with special deals now on offer.

Until June 30, Bruny Island, Tasman Island, and Wineglass Bay cruises have been reduced to $99, with child tickets now at $65.

The tickets can be used any time over the next five years.

“We pride ourselves on delivering quality, authentic and unique experiences that showcase how special Tasmania is, and think that after we have all been tucked away, it is a wonderful time to encourage Tasmanians to get out and discover their own back yard,” Mr Pennicott said.

Hannah Cox works in the booking office and as a deck hand, and was keen to get back to work after keeping busy at home during lockdown.

“At the moment we’re all just stoked to be back,” she said.

“With so many restrictions and stuff we were all pretty housebound, so being on the water again is nice.”
