YET another cruise ship where passengers disembarked in Sydney has recorded a case of coronavirus, as officials work to determine if there were any Tasmanians on board.

Tasmanian health authorities were told on Friday night of a confirmed case of COVID-19 from a passenger on board the Sun Princess that docked in Sydney on March 19.

Acting Director of Public Health Scott McKeown said the case had been diagnosed interstate.

“We are yet to receive the passenger manifest from this cruise, we will contact all members of the cruise that are Tasmanians,’’ he said. “But it’s important from today that if any Tasmanians were on the Sun Princess that docked in Sydney on the 19th of March, we expect you to go into quarantine from today until the 2nd of April.”

Dr McKeown said if there were Tasmanians found to be on board, Public Health Services would contact them daily until the end of the quarantine period.

More than half of Tasmania’s confirmed cases of coronavirus to date have been linked to travel on cruise ships, including the Ruby Princess and Ovation of the Seas.
