BUSINESSES struggling to recover from the impact of the pandemic will be able to apply for their share in $30m of new state government grants.
Premier Peter Gutwein will on Wednesday announce another round of the Supercharged Micro and Small Business – Border Closure Critical Support Grant.
The new second round of the program will provide grants of between $3,000 and $50,000 to eligible Tasmanian businesses.
The money will be available for micro and small businesses operating in the tourism, hospitality, arts and events, seafood and transport sectors who have been impacted by the current border closures, Mr Gutwein said.
“Importantly, this round of the program is open both to new applicants and those who received support under the first round which ran across September and October,” he said.
“Today’s announcement will take the grants available up to around the $80 million mark.
“But as our Government has always said, we will continue to respond to the ongoing COVID-19 situation around the country, and will always support Tasmania’s business sector.
“This comes on top of the $130 million package provided to Tasmanian businesses during the height of the pandemic last year. “
More than 3,400 Tasmanian businesses shared more than $42 million in the first round of the grants program.
Applications open at 10am Wednesday via businesstasmania.tas.gov.au, call the Business Tasmania hotline on 1800 440 026 or email ask@business.tas.gov.au
