Whenever I see celebrities wearing something I absolutely love, a frantic search ensues to find a wallet-friendly alternative. Mainly because a) I don’t have their budget, and b) even if I did, I just can’t seem to justify spending so much on what will probably be a fleeting trend.
Still! I’m only a human, so I'm keen to jump on a fun fashion find when I see one.
Enter: Kmart. Mine (and everyone else’s) worst-kept secret when it comes to finding great knock-offs of buzzy products.
Their latest achievement? A $25 Sherpa bomber jacket that people are claiming is the 'perfect dupe' for a designer one recently spotted on ultimate cool-girl, Hailey Bieber.
Hers was the $227 ‘Hit The Slopes Fleece Jacket’ from Free People, but the Kmart one is meant to be bang-on identical and will save you over 200 bucks.
So, I clearly had to go check it out — for work purposes, of course.

The ultimate bomber for school pick-up, walks and errands
Running to Kmart, I feared the worst. Were they going to have it, or was it going to be completely sold out after all the social media hype?
Influencer @madeleine___smith recently shared the find with her followers, styling it with flared leggings and Adidas sambas. Meanwhile, mum @rachdeoliveira went viral for styling hers with a white t-shirt, an oversized scarf and sneakers for an athletic and chic school pick-up look.

I wasn’t hopeful, but I was hanging out for the fire-engine red one (the colour of the moment, haven’t you heard?), but I was willing to settle for any of the other shades - black, biscotti brown or frost white.
To my surprise, they had the red one! And it’s even better in person than it looked online.

So many colours! So much choice!
I immediately fell in love.
It has a high neck, long sleeves and elastic cuffs, a front snap button closure and three, yes THREE, pockets. So practical!
The teddy fleece material is also so cosy that I reckon it'll keep me nice and toasty for winter.
Meanwhile, the oversized fit is giving ‘off-duty model’ - or in my case, so off-duty that I never made it into the industry in the first place - shame, lol.
It's available in sizes ranging from six to 20, and Kmart’s website said that it runs slightly large, so I kept this in mind when choosing a size.
I still decided to go up a size, though, so I got that roomier, less cropped look, which I think suits this bomber perfectly.
So, if you're keen to follow in my footsteps, I mean Hailey Bieber’s, you know what to do. Go, go, go!
(After all that, I ended up buying the black. It will endure the test of time better than the red, and I reckon I'll wear it more.)
Ciao!
