A discounted mid-year getaway to a pristine Tasmanian tourist destination is on offer.
Tassie travel vouchers are back on the table after the previous Make Yourself At Home campaign spurred locals to take advantage of holiday experiences.
The state government will launch registrations for 700 vouchers worth $300 each to be spent on accommodation and experiences on King Island in May, June and July.
“We acknowledge that King Island has faced some challenges due to Covid-19 earlier this year and this voucher program is part of a suite of travel initiatives for King Island implemented as part of our Covid-19 recovery support,” Tourism Minister Peter Gutwein said.
“The travel incentive seeks to accelerate visitation to the island during the traditionally quieter winter season to support the island’s tourism operators and economy in general.”
Mr Gutwein described the island as “a feast of famously good produce, island hospitality and legendary golf’.
Holiday vouchers injected about $25-30m into the economy late last year with more than 12,700 bookings made under the accommodation and experience voucher scheme.
Registrations for the random travel voucher ballot are open from 9am Thursday until 5pm Sunday.
Successful ballot entrants will receive a confirmation text and email on Monday with their voucher code.
Bookings must be made via the King Island Tourism website between April 11-20.
Registrations are available via kingisland.org.au
