AFTER months of preparation, stallholders are almost ready for the launch of the inaugural Hobart Twilight Market this evening.

Market founders Justin Davies and Matt Wise said the market at Sandy Bay’s Long Beach Reserve was an opportunity for small business to engage with the public and act as a springboard for artisan producers.

They hope the twilight market will add to the state’s already lucrative tourism draw and open doors for burgeoning talent in the great tradition of markets worldwide.

“The journey to bring a new market format to Hobart is another milestone-in-the-making for Tasmania,’’ Mr Wise said.

Hobart Twilight Market will showcase more than 50 stalls spanning gourmet food, artisan wine, beer, whisky and cider as well as fashion, arts, homewares, design and fitness activities.

Tassie girls and former My Kitchen Rules contestants Thalia Papadakis and Bianca Johnston will be selling their scene-stealing pate at the market.

Art and craft lovers will find plenty to satisfy their creativity and fashionistas and shopaholics can fill their baskets with handmade jewellery, homewares and accessories.

Market patrons are encouraged to bring along a picnic rug and soak up the atmosphere as the sun sets.

Hobart Twilight Markets will operate on alternate Fridays from October through November and two consecutive Fridays in December.

The inaugural Hobart Twilight Market will run from 3-7pm, with successive markets from 4-8pm.
