SPEAKER Sue Hickey has gone through with her commitment to publicly shed her hair to raise funds and awareness for blood cancer.

Ms Hickey said she had been inspired to get the chop after witnessing Tasmanian Governor Kate Warner’s “grace and style” through her cancer battle last year.

Ms Hickey had originally planned on having her locks lopped on Parliament Lawns, but the coronavirus crisis has forced a change of venue and she will now have her head shaved at her local hairdresser’s with minimal people involved.

However, the event was live streamed on Ms Hickey’s Facebook page.

Ms Hickey had hoped to raise $5000 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
