Parents shocked after girl comes home from school with no pants

“How can you look over my 6-year-old daughter in a t-shirt and panties, socks and shoes for three hours?”

How to prepare your child for school

When you send your kids to school, you generally expect them to come home again in a similar condition.

Sure, they may lose a school hat, or misplace an insert from their lunchbox, but generally they’ll come home with all the important things.

That’s why this American family was stunned when their six-year-old didn’t come home wearing the same clothes they had sent her to school in.

Parents Avishaye Daniels and Daman Bell, from the southern part of Georgia, were stunned when their daughter Aylah returned home from school without any pants.

Avishaye told WALB she had sent Aylah to school fully clothed, but she was only wearing a shirt, underwear, socks and shoes when she returned home.

“I was mad, but I was more shocked than anything,” she said.

"We've never had this happen before"

After notifying the school, the parents learned their child had been walking around the school in that state of undress for at least three hours.

“How can you look over my 6-year-old daughter in a t-shirt and panties, socks and shoes for three hours?” Daman said.

WALB reports the school’s principal, Jeff Henderson, said the whole situation was an “accident”.

“We’ve never had this happen before,” he said.

The school hosted a chalk party on the day where students’ clothes got dirty, and Aylah’s parents were asked to bring her a shirt to change into.

However, Aylah said she forgot to put her shorts back on when she was told to change, and Henderson said Aylah’s teacher did not realise she wasn’t wearing her pants.

“Her shirt was long. It went almost to her knee and she was not fully exposed or anything like that throughout the day,” Henderson said.

"It's a big learning experience for everyone"

WALB reports police have reviewed school cameras to make sure nothing untoward happened to Aylah while she didn’t have her shorts on.

Henderson said the footage showed Aylah’s safety was never compromised.

“We do care about their concerns and the safety of our students,” he said. “We learned from this.

“It’s a big learning experience for everyone that this took place. It was never intentional, (and in) no way, shape or form will this ever happen again.”

Aylah’s parents are still waiting for police to brief them on the school footage, but said they wouldn’t stop speaking out about their concerns from the day.
