READ DEATH & FUNERAL NOTICES
Over the years readers have complained about the Mercury’s Tributes section online.
Well we’ve listened. On the Mercury’s app, death and funeral notices are displayed in a logical and easy-to-read way.
To navigate there click the “hamburger” menu symbol, click on classifieds and then choose tributes.
PLACE OR SEARCH FOR AN AD
While you are in the classifieds section, the app also allows you search for buy and sell, jobs, public notices, rentals and more.
ADAPT THE APP TO SUIT YOU
You can tailor the app to suit your needs. Personalise your own news feed with topics that matter to you. To do this click on the My News symbol (the heart-shaped one at the bottom left of your screen) then tap on edit up the top right. Then choose which topics you want in your feed.
You can also change your settings via the menu to adjust the font size, enable highlighting and manage downloads.
LISTEN TO PODCASTS
A new feature of the app means our growing range of podcasts are now a finger-touch away.
Browse our True Crime offerings including Gone Girls, the Mercury's exclusive five-part series looking into the mysterious East Coast deaths of Victoria Cafasso and Nancy Grunwaldt.
Offerings also include I Catch Killers with Gary Jubelin, sport including the Herald Sun's Sacked footy podcast series revealing the stories behind high-profile AFL axings. There are also business, daily news, politics, and lifestyle podcasts to choose from.
READ THE DIGITAL PRINT EDITION
Mercury subscribers can access the digital replica of the paper, exactly as it is printed in an easy page-buy-page swipe-through format. Just click on the Today’s paper symbol and you’re away. You can download an edition to read offline and you can call up and read back-issues for the past 14 days. You can also get a thumbnail display of pages and click on one that catches your eye. You can also clip favourite articles to print or email. The digital editions also include other Mercury lift-outs such as Tasweekend, Real Estate Guide and the Stellar/ Body+Soul flipbook.
PLAY GAMES, ENJOY THE COMICS
The app is not all about serious news. One of our more popular features for subscribers includes daily crossword and sudoku puzzles as well as a daily dose of laughter through Calvin and Hobbes, Garfield and Dilbert comics. In addition you can read your horoscopes each day.
SIGN UP TO NEWSLETTERS
If you want news delivered to your inbox, it’s easy to sign up to newsletters via the app. Just click on the menu, choose newsletters and simply select which newsletters you want. As well as the Mercury’s newsletters, there are several others from across the News Corp network covering topics including business, entertainment, sport, technology and entertainment.
