"That's a great idea!"

Why this Kmart ice tray is a game-changer for your kitchen!

As much as many love caravanning, it definitely comes with its pitfalls - one being the constant clinking and banging of jars whilst driving.

But, it seems one savvy Kmart shopper has come up with the perfect solution, with others labelling it ‘genius’.

‘That’s a great idea!’

This week, Yahoo Lifestyle reported that a Kmart shopper took to a popular Facebook group, sharing her ingenious idea for caravanners using the $1.75 Giant Ice Cube Tray from the store.

"These from Kmart are great in the fridge to stop little jars hitting each other,” they said in the group.

Commenters were immediately impressed with the idea, labelling it ‘genius’ and ‘so clever’.

“Ohhhh that’s a great idea,” another said.

The post prompted a slew of others joining in, sharing their ideas for the ice trays.

"I use them for my spice jars," someone said.

"They are also great for eggs," added another.

"I also use mine for putting tomato paste or pizza sauce in to freeze after opening up a big jar. I think roughly 1 to 2 tablespoons each 1 holds," a third commenter suggested.

'Thank me later!'

But, it turns out these ideas are hardly new, with content creator Caroline, @thedelightfulcook on TikTok, sharing her hack using the product last year.

“They are the best for stock. I made a batch of stock that I needed to freeze individually,” she said.

“Use them as you go. You can use them in risotto, your pasta, stir fry, anything that requires stock.”

Caroline went on to say that the cubes can be used to store just about anything - sauce, butter, garlic, or even fruit.

“Thank me later!” she concluded the video.

Not the first time Kmart's trays went viral

Though the ice cube trays have well and truly become a viral sensation, they have also been the subject of some controversy.

A few years ago, a trend circulated using them to bake bite-sized goodies.

However, Kmart itself was forced to responded to the matter, advising shoppers to avoid the hack.

“We do not recommend the Giant Ice Cube Tray for use in the oven as it has not been heat tested for this use,” a Kmart representative wrote in a letter to a customer back in 2021.
