Aussie mum left fuming after 'inconsiderate' parking act

The woman took to TikTok hoping for words of support, but it turns out the issue is far more divisive than she thought.

Mum's furious rant on inconsiderate parking leaves people split

An Aussie mum has gone viral on TikTok for calling out an inconsiderate parking act at her local shopping centre.

But, what she thought was a black and white situation has become far more controversial, with those on both sides weighing in on her dilemma.

The ‘inconsiderate’ act

This week, Queensland mum of two Steph Arneill, on TikTok as @stepharneilll, took to the app to share an experience she had at her local shopping centre.

In the video, Steph is seen coming out of the shops with a pram, only to see another car parked over the line and into her car spot.

Given she has reversed her car into the space, Steph’s first concern is whether her not her car boot will even open. But, when it does, her next concern is just how she’s supposed to get her pram inside.

“I don’t know how I’m going to get my pram in,” she says in the viral video.

“Somehow maneuver it?”

Steph goes on to talk about just how ‘inconsiderate’ the driver of the other car is, adding that she decided to leave a note on the car in her departure.

“Not being dramatic, but what if I couldn’t have opened my car boot?” she said.

‘Don’t reverse in!’

Though Steph presumably posted the video thinking most people would be on her side, it quickly became clear that that wasn’t going to happen.

Her comments section was almost immediately flooded with people calling her dramatic, and stating that her problem had an easy fix.

“If you need to use your boot, don’t reverse in!” one commenter said.

“As a ute owner, I don’t see anything wrong with how they are parked,” said another.

“Yes it is over the line but most parking bays are way too small which makes parking for utes harder.”

“I mean you could just move your car,” echoed a third.

“I don’t feel like it’s that big of a deal annoying yeah but not the end of the world.”

‘Are you all actually missing the point?’

However, many people jumped into the comments in her defense, especially fellow mums.

“Everyone saying ‘just move the car forward’ are the same people who would park like the red car,” one said.

“The don’t reverse park comments are wild. Are you all actually missing the point?,” said another.

“The Ute is parked incorrectly… regardless of how the OP has parked.”

“Until you’re a mum you wouldn’t understand the inconvenience and internal rage this causes,” another said.

“I can’t believe the number of people blaming you in some way when that person is literally INSIDE YOUR PARKING SPACE?” a fourth added.

Steph responded to a comment on the original video, clarifying that she had parked in a specific pram car park in hopes that this would give her the extra space she needed, but unfortunately didn’t get.

“I was parked in a spot specifically for parents with prams, and it still ended up like that,” she said.
