'I would be so angry': Divisive flight habit has travellers torn

"It’s not that hard to just be respectful," said one person on social media. But, others are convinced it's not that big of a deal.

Sitting in a place with thousands of people you don’t know is always going to bring some kind of frustration.

Not everyone is going to do things the way you want to!

But, on a flight, there are a few things you really shouldn’t do - and this is one of them.

“GOOD MORNING”

TikTok user Anaya has taken to the app to share a now-viral video of her opening her window on a flight.

The lights inside the plane are off, and no other windows are open, leading her window to cause a stream of sunlight to enter the plane.

“When we open the window during unspoken night night time,” she wrote.

“GOOD MORNINGGGGGAAAAAA.”

“They can buy a sleep mask”

Many commenters on the post agreed that the act was no big deal, adding that for the majority of them, it was even a selling point for having the window seat.

“‘Put it down,’ I got the window seat so I could look out the window,” said one commenter.

“People who get mad over this need to get a life LMAO,” another said.

“I paid for a window seat, I’m looking out the damn window,” said another.

“Got the window seat for a reason, they can buy a sleep mask,” a fourth agreed.

“I would be so angry”

But, for others, it wasn’t that simple, instead calling the act selfish and inconsiderate towards other travellers - who may want to get some sleep.

“As a flight attendant this is so irritating, even for us,” said one commenter.

“I’M TRYING TO SLEEP AND GOT FLASHBANGED,” said another.

“I would be so angry,” a third agreed.

“But it’s not that hard to just be respectful. Some people don’t like sleep masks. Didn’t bring one. Or they just expect you to be kind and not open an extremely bright window in an area and designated period of time meant for rest,” another person said.
