AN Italian family with a deep love of wine is setting up a new shop in Hobart.
Molto wine bar, located on Melville St, is now open.
The family business will be run by young winemaker Marco Lubiana and his parents Steve and Monique.
The Tasmanian family are well-known for their love of wine.
“My dad is a first generation Italian and fifth generation winemaker,” Mr Lubiana said.
“Our whole family has a deep love for wine.
“Molto, the name for our bar, is the Italian word for many – many good times, wines, tastings and discussions.”
Customers will be able to purchase wine, mainly from Tasmanian and European producers, and pay a small additional fee to consume the bottle at the venue.
“We wanted to create a relaxed environment where people can wander in, purchase wine off the shelf and drink it in the venue if they wanted to,” Mr Lubiana said.
“The internal design is welcoming and relaxed with soft lights and music.”
The venue will sell a wide range of wines, including from new and upcoming producers, well-known locals and organic makers.
Customers will be able to enjoy their purchase with a selection of cheese and meat platters at the bar.
Mr Lubiana said the bar is hoping to run wine classes in the near future, where people can learn about different varieties and enjoy tastings.
“We are also looking forward to renovating the rear part of the building, then we could put in a kitchen and provide more food options,” he said.
