“Don’t buy from Big W!!”
An Aussie mum has taken to the Adult Bluey Fans Facebook group to share an unfortunate mishap with a Big W set.
“Don't buy from Big W!! This is what happened in the first wash… 50-degree cotton cycle,” she shared.
“This has never happened with anything else! I'm so disappointed.”
The product is the Bluey Boys Singlet & Trunks Set, currently on clearance for $7.
The shirt has a print of Bluey and Bingo camping, along with the words ‘stay up late’.
But, in the photo shared, this image has almost entirely peeled off.
“Take it back!”
Commenters on the post were alarmed at the state of the shirt, urging the shopper to try and get a refund.
“Take it back as a faulty item,” one person said.
“That sucks!” another sympathised.
“Not everything is perfect. Take it back and exchange/refund,” another agreed.
“It's cheap clothes... this for sure will happen. Sorry for that,” said a fourth.
“No wonder it came off!”
But some picked up on a small detail which meant the issue wasn’t to do with the shirt after all.
On the Big W website, the set’s care instructions read ‘cold machine wash’ - meaning that the mum washing it at 50 degrees celsius may have been the issue.
“I have the same set for my son. It’s only ever washed on a cold cycle. It’s almost 12 months old and still going strong,” one person shared.
“50°c! No wonder it came off. Printed items should not be washed on such a high temp,” another agreed.
“Too hot. Cold wash only when it has this type of print. I've bought from Big W since my boy was born. Never had an issue,” said a third.
