Bridesmaid pulls out of bestie's wedding to go to Taylor Swift concert

"I wanted you there next to me on my day, and you're not gonna be there."

I like Taylor Swift a lot.

I’ve felt she’s often provided the soundtrack to life’s moments and helped me find the perfect track to sum up how I felt at any moment.

I danced to ‘22’ on my twenty-second birthday, sang ‘We Are Never Getting Back Together’ when I broke up with my ex and blasted ‘Shake It Off’ whenever I was having a bad day.

I wouldn’t go as far as calling me a Swiftie by any means, but I do understand the adoration people have for Spotify 2023’s most listened-to artist, who clocked up more than 26.1 billion global streams that year alone.

But I don’t think I could ever forgive my bestie for committing this cardinal sin.

A date clash

Die-hard TayTay fan Olivia called The Fox's Fifi, Fev & Nick show to share how the upcoming Eras Tour had ruined something in her life.

It turns out Olivia’s bestie Jessie is getting married the same day Olivia got tickets to Taylor’s show, and she hadn’t revealed the news yet.

"I know how annoyed she's gonna be," Olivia confided.

The show’s hosts decided to dial Jessie in to help Olivia break the news.

"I haven't told you that I got tickets for the Saturday and this was done before Christmas," Olivia said, reminding her BFF she had "loved Taylor for so long."

Let’s just say it didn’t go down so well

Jessie was confused by Olivia’s admission and questioned if the whole story was made up.

“Is this a prank?" she asked.

"Are you joking? You've known this since before December, and it's three weeks until my wedding, and you're telling me now?"

Olivia was quick to offer solutions to celebrating both her friend's wedding and the concert, but Jessie was quick to point out the logistics didn’t add up.

"I'm getting married in the Yarra Valley. How are you going to come to my wedding and then go to Taylor Swift and come back?" she demanded.

"You know how much this has been annoying me that people have been dropping out to go to her, and you've known all along that you're gonna go to her concert?"

Pretty poor form

While Olivia began to get emotional on air, sharing how anxious she’d been to break the news, she only seemed to dig a deeper hole for herself.

"I've been there through every step of the way, and when we were trying on the bridesmaid dresses, I was going to tell you," but her nerves prevented her from doing so.

"I want you there next to me on my day, and you're not gonna be there," Jessie rightly told her friend.

Olivia may be a huge fan who couldn’t imagine missing the show, but when the glitter settles, and Taylor heads back home to her cats and NFL BF, she will realise she missed out on a one-in-a-lifetime friendship moment that she’ll never get back.

I don’t know if Jessie will forgive her for that, and perhaps nor should she.
