ALDI fans in stitches over hilarious best-before-date label mistake

"No sense in rushing it then... let them mature!" chuckled one shopper after seeing the bizarre typo.

Raspberry cookie dough croissants

We're all on the hunt for bargains at the moment, given the - you guessed it - cost-of-living crisis (*sigh*), and now one ALDI customer thinks he's found the ultimate deal.

A product with a 46-year shelf life!

With a best-before date of 2070, this three-pack of croissants promises to stay fresh until flying cars become the norm.

Forget about mould or throwing them out anytime soon — you’re all set for decades, saving you a fortune in avoiding food waste!

Plus, at the rate that #cozzielivs is going, you’ll probably still be budgeting for groceries by then, so good thing your breakfast is covered.

The croissants are currently on sale too for $1.99, down from $2.49, so you can stock up on these bad boys and get prepped for the next half-century.

A 46-year shelf life

Shared by a NSW shopper on Facebook, the post about the labelling mistake quickly went viral.

"Nothing to see, just ALDI Australia croissants with 46 years of shelf life. Purchased Sunday 7/04/24," he wrote alongside a photo of the Bakers Life croissants.

The packet of baked goods had a label that read: "Display until 06/01/70" and "Best before 07/01/70."

Cue the hilarious comments about the absurdity of the typo.

"Good bang for your buck"

"I could eat them on my 100th birthday!" said one ALDI fan. Another shopper chimed in by pointing out that he could be 54 years too late. "Or are they already off?" they asked. "Could be from the 1970s 😂."

Another shopper joked: "That's good bang for your buck."

"Don't you know that's what they mean by 'Good Different'?" someone else joked, referring to the budget retailer's motto.

"No sense in rushing it then... let them mature!" chuckled another.
