The Block team Sharon and Ankur cut off by Scott Cam after 53k overspend

Sharon and Ankur have come head-to-head with Scott Cam again, resulting in the longtime Block host taking drastic measures to punish them.

The Block’s Sharon and Ankur have hit yet another hurdle, having over spent their budget by what Scott Cam has called an “insane” amount of money.

It’s the most recent in a string of issues plaguing the couple’s time in the competition, and one which sees them again contemplate walking out, just three weeks before the end.

Sharon and Ankur have had a rough trot this season, having clashed with Scotty on more than one occasion, as well as facing off with their own builders.

This week, Sharon and Ankur have copped heat from Scotty Cam over their spending.

But while wayward budgets have been a staple storyline of seasons past, Sharon and Ankur have overspent by a whopping $53,000, leaving Scotty with no choice but to lock down their accounts and cancel their credit cards.

The longtime Block host was the first to deliver the bad news during walk-arounds on Thursday night, placing Sharon and Ankur on a spending ban after a sensational dressing down.

“The language that was used it was pretty aggressive with that fact, saying that you guys are just spending without thinking,” Ankur told producers of the tense visit.

“You guys have an encyclopaedia of unpaid bills,” Scotty told the couple.

Scotty was not impressed.

“You’re spending money as if you think Channel 9 is going to give you some more money,” he added as they tried to explain themselves.

“It’s just on our trades basically Scotty,” said Ankur as the TV personality interjected: “You’re an accountant … you guys are tens of thousands of dollars over the red.”

After Ankur admitted he was aware of the overspending, Scotty fumed, “What do you mean you know? How can you keep spending? I don’t understand where you think you’re going to pay for it, we’ve got three weeks to go.”

Explaining that their plastering bill was way above what the other teams have been spending, the host cut Sharon off as she tried to object to his comparisons to Tom and Sarah-Jane’s build.

“It’s not the same space …,” she began.

“Sharon, just listen to what I’m saying,” he said brusquely.

“I haven’t done this since the Oslo, I’m cutting you guys off. You’re gone.”

Sharon was emotional over the news.

Speaking to the show’s accountant Jo, who was equally as shocked by the amount Sharon and Ankur are over budget, Scott had earlier mused whether they’ve just been spending “willy nilly” without considering what’s in the bank at all.

“That’s so unfair for everyone else because if you spend that much more, than you’ve got a massive advantage haven’t you. We’ve gotta pull that in … I don’t even know if we’re going to be able to pull that back,” he added, as Jo expressed concern over whether they’ll finish their build at all.

It was a rollercoaster day for Sharon and Ankur, who had been on a high after winning an $80,000 Ford Everest in a clay sculpture designing challenge.
