SOME impressive jousting and sword combat will be on show this weekend at the Sheffield Tasmania Medieval Festival.

Festival organiser Lord Ned said that too often people assumed what they did was re-enactment or games.

But he said that they use real swords, real amour and the hits were at full strength.

“You will see close-up real hits and some may fall,” he said.

The festival is a showcase of western martial arts with traditional weapons and amour.

Horses will travel at full speed, lances poised for the jousting.

Those attending are encouraged to dress in medieval attire with a competition for the best dressed.

Some of the other attractions of the festival include birds of prey, historic weapons show, archery, reptile display, light horse display.

Merchants lane will feature a number of food vendors and a licensed bar.
