Choose from over 20,000 songs at Hobart’s first karaoke bar

Fancy yourself a bit of a star in front of the microphone? Now’s your chance to prove it with Hobart’s first karaoke bar open and ready for action.

FEEL like you have the vocal chords of a superstar but don’t know where to show off those pipes?

Well Hobart is now finally home to a karaoke bar, where you can have a microphone in one hand and a drink in the other, while choosing from over 20,000 songs.

Superstar Karaoke is Hobart’s first bar offering the trend that is raging elsewhere in the world, located in North Hobart between the State Cinema and The Winston bar.

Owner Kevin Meng said that he saw the need for a karaoke bar in the city due its population increase.

“It’s a good place for people to sing music, and for people to have some beers and for people to find a place during the night,” Mr Meng said.

While the venue is appealing more to the international market, he said he hopes locals will be enticed once they know what goes inside.

“They know it’s karaoke but they don’t know what they can actually play there,” Mr Meng said.

He said it’s not just a place where you go and sing, but rather where friends and families can book a room, drink and chat.

With over 3000 English songs to choose from, as well as music in languages such as Cantonese, Malay, Japanese and Korean, punters can sing along with such artists as Adele, Michael Jackson and Beyonce.

There are small, medium, large and VIP rooms on offer, fitting between four and 30 people in each, with 12 rooms altogether.

People under 18 are also welcome.

Superstar Karaoke is open from noon until late every day.
