The stars were all glammed up for the Chicago premiere in Sydney on Thursday night, but all eyes were on Natalie Bassingthwaighte and her look-alike daughter, Harper.

Mother and daughter brought all that jazz when they walked the red carpet at the Capitol Theatre in Haymarket, with the pair matching in their black ensembles.

The former Neighbours star was striking with a lick of red lippie while Harper, 13, opted for a nude-coloured gloss to set off her bronzed glow.

Bassingthwaighte, 48, has a special connection to the musical. Back in 2019, when the Broadway production first came Down Under, she donned the famous blonde bob to portray Roxie Hart – a role played by the likes of Liza Minnelli, Renée Zellweger and Brooke Shields in various seasons of the global phenomenon.

Chicago will run for a strictly limited seven weeks in Sydney, with musical theatre darling Lucy Maunder playing the lead role as Roxie Hart and former Home and Away star Zoë Ventoura playing antagonist Velma Kelly.

Dressed in a satin power suit, Ventoura also walked the red carpet, as did the likes of singer Samantha Jade and Wiggles stars and real-life husband and wife Simon Pryce and Lauren Hannaford.

The Block star Mitch Edwards also braved the winter chill to work it on the red carpet.

Accompanied by his long-term partner Mark McKie, Edwards donned a pair of body-baring lace pants that he paired with skimpy black briefs to hide his modesty.

Bassingthwaighte and Harper weren’t the only mother and daughter duo at the event: Melissa Doyle and her daughter Tahlia, 20, were also on hand for the big premiere.

The Sunrise co-host has had Tahlia as her plus-one at various events before. The pair have enjoyed high teas, book launches, charity events and concerts together in the past year alone.

As for Bassingthwaighte, she and Harper have an extremely close relationship. The proud mum couldn’t help but gush about her daughter last year on her 13th birthday.

“Happy 13th birthday to our Harper Rain. You are such a shining light, charismatic and funny. I am pretty sure you spoke before you could walk,” she captioned a video montage on Instagram.

“Always dancing, putting on shows for all to see. You have grown into the most magical young woman. You deserve all the happiness in the world. I truly can’t believe how lucky I am to call you my daughter.” ️

The actress and singer shares Harper with her ex-husband, Rogue Traders bandmate Cameron McGlinchey. The pair also share an 11-year-old son, Hendrix, and have had a great co-parenting relationship since they split in 2022 after a 12-year marriage.

McGlinchey is even supportive of her relationship with new partner Pip Roth.

Bassingthwaighte came out and announced her new romance last November in Stellar, where she spoke lovingly of her “beautiful” new relationship “with a woman who makes my heart smile and makes me happy”.
