Private schools dominate Ipswich’s top NAPLAN performance

Private schools have dominated the list of best-performing NAPLAN schools in Ipswich, according to an analysis of the latest results.

Private schools have dominated the list of best-performing NAPLAN schools in Ipswich, according to an analysis of the latest results.

A Courier-Mail analysis of the recently released 2025 NAPLAN data revealed that Ipswich Grammar School secured its top spot in the region across both the primary and secondary sectors, with a 1 per cent increase in its Year 9 average score to 633.4.

The results were based on tests of students’ reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy.

Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School took up the second spot, with its Year 5 students achieving 534.8 and its Year 9 getting 616.2, a slight improvement compared to last year.

The Springfield Anglican College came third in the primary division, with 533.6, a 2 per cent rise in a year, taking over St Peters Lutheran College Springfield whose ranking dropped from the second to the fourth for Year 5 but remained third place for Year 9.

The top public primary school was Lake Clarendon State School which ranked fifth in the region, up from 15th last year, with Springfield Central State High School being the only government school within Ipswich’s top 10 secondary schools.
