Revellers praised for quiet night as they see off 2020

A teen arrested for stealing cars and a woman injured in a crash were the only major matters requiring police attention as the city celebrated the start of 2021.

Police arrested a teenage boy on burglary charges and picked up two men on outstanding warrants during what was an otherwise uneventful New Year’s Eve in Toowoomba.

“We were actually surprised how quiet it was,” a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.

The teen appeared in the Toowoomba Childrens Court on Friday morning, where his matter was adjourned until Saturday.

Revellers in the city CBD were praised for the good behaviour, with no major incidents drawing police attention.

However, paramedics transported a teenage girl to the Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition after a single-vehicle crash on Scrubby Rd, near Pittsworth about 4.30am Friday.
