Police release footage of serious hit and run that put man in hospital

Toowoomba Forensic Crash Unit officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam vision of either vehicle or further information to contact police

Police have released vision of a Toyota Landcruiser involved in a hit and run incident early on Sunday morning, January 24, which left a man with serious injuries.

About 2.02am a bronze Toyota Camry was travelling west on Baker St at Darling Heights when it was overtaken by a white 4WD, believed to be a Toyota Landcruiser.

The 4WD stopped in front of the Camry before driving off and stopping again.

The 4WD then began to reverse toward the Camry.

Police released footage of a serious hit and run collision.

The Camry tried to reverse away from the 4WD however the 4WD hit the Camry.

The driver of the Camry exited his vehicle however the 4WD drove off with the Camry attached, dragging the driver of the Camry.

The driver has been dragged approximately 80 metres before the Camry came free from the 4WD.

The driver, a 38-year-old Toowoomba man, remains in the Toowoomba Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The 4WD has driven away and the driver did not stop to offer assistance to the injured man.

Police believe the 4WD is a white Toyota Landcruiser single cab utility with a bull bar and snorkel on the right side.
