Police investigating after teen crashed into tree, fence in Newtown

Residents in Gaydon Street reported hearing a loud bang as a 17-year-old boy crashed into a tree and a fence. The 4WD, fence and tree are a mess, but the boy is fine.

A 17-year-old boy will face the Toowoomba Children’s Court in April charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle and unlicensed driving.

Police will allege the boy crashed a gold-coloured Ford Territory into a silver Toyota Yaris that was parked on Campbell Street, in Newtown about 2pm today.

The boy continued driving before crashing into a tree and a low-set fence, in Gaydon Street.

He was the sole occupant of the Territory.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics treated the boy for minor injuries, but he declined their offer of a ride to the Toowoomba Hospital.

The vehicle was not reported stolen.

Police investigations continue and anyone with information, including dashcam footage, is asked to phone Policelink on 131 444.
