Police investigating after multiple businesses targeted by kids armed with bolt cutters

Two vehicles police believe are connected to a spate of dramatic crimes across Toowoomba in the past two days have been dumped on a suburban street.

Police have recovered two vehicles believed to be linked to a spate of break and enter offences committed across Toowoomba over the past two day.

The vehicles were heavily damaged and one appears to have crashed into a tree in Wine Drive Park in Wilsonton Heights about 1am on Tuesday.

The occupants fled prior to the police officers’ arrival.

One of the vehicles contained a pair of yellow bolt cutters that were similar to those used to force entry to the Uni Plaza SPAR grocery store in Kearneys Spring about 12am on Monday.

Toowoomba Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker described them as ‘vehicles of interest’.

CCTV of the incident shows there young people using bolt cutters and a crowbar to smash their way through the store’s glass door.

Once inside they stole about 40 packets of cigarettes.

A short time later they hit the Drayton Bowls Club where they forced entry and stole a small amount of alcohol and an old laptop.

At about 3am, three people attempted to break into Woolworths on Erin Street, Wilsonton, however they left empty-handed after failing to gain entry.

Police are also investigating an earlier break and enter at a fitness business in Rangeville on Saturday night, February 1. At about 12am unknown offenders smashed through a glass door gaining entry to the High Street, stealing a computer, and damaging property.

Two of the offenders wore white jumpers and black pants, while the third wore all black with a blue cover over their face.
