Man to face court charged with assault occasioning bodily harm

A 35-YEAR-OLD Wilsonton man will face the magistrate charged with assault after he allegedly punched a man for letting a dog relieve itself near his property.

A 35-YEAR-OLD Wilsonton man will face the magistrate charged with assault after he allegedly punched a man for letting a dog relieve itself near his property.

It is alleged the offender was enraged after seeing Nat Burcher’s dog poo near his driveway early on Tuesday.

“I heard a car honk, and I saw a vehicle,” he said.

“It was quite noisy, but I became progressively aware that someone was yelling at me.”

The man approached Mr Burcher and his dog.

Police alleged the offender punched Mr Burcher in the face.

The alleged assault left Mr Burcher with cuts and bruising on his face, which required a trip to hospital to treat.

Police arrested the alleged offender on Saturday, charging him with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and wilful damage.

He was bailed to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on November 5.
